Bill Moyers on Grover Norquist - It's About the Money

Bill Moyers tells the truth about Grover Norquist. It's not "conservative principles" or some pledge he invented when he was 12 years old. At this point, Norquist wants to save his gravy train with biscuit wheels, aka, his alliance with the Koch Brothers, He's a bought-and-paid-for puppet who harrasses other puppets in the Tea Party.

Norquist's efforts: Keep taxes low for his donor base -- billionaires like the Koch brothers and the plutocrats secretly clustered around Norquist's comrade, Karl Rove.

This past election, Norquist's group, Americans for Tax Reform, spent nearly $16 million to support his favored candidates; that's according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Where did that money come from, and what did it buy? Back in the 1990's, it was the tobacco industry backing Norquist's fight against cigarette taxes; now it's pharmaceutical companies, among others. Not long ago, this same Grover Norquist was using his organization to launder money for the notorious lobbyist Jack Abramoff. How about that for tax reform!

Bill Moyers Slams the NRA

This is profound. I hope people listen, especially in Washington. I've always loved Bill Moyers as a journalkist, and I'm glad he's still around to keep people honest.

One of the guns used by the shooter was an AK47 that was banned in 1994. The NRA saw to it that the ban expired in 2004.
The NRA is the best friend the killer's instinct ever had.
. . . Toys are regulated with greater care and safety concerns than guns.
. . . So why do we always acts so surprised? Violence is our alter-ego. Violence is our alter ego, wired into our Stone Age brains, so intrinsic its toxic eruptions no longer shock, except momentarily when we hear of a mass shooting like this latest in Colorado. But this, too, will pass and the nation of the short attention span quickly finds the next thing to divert us from the hard realities of America in 2012.
