Hillary Clinton and President Obama at Ceremony for the Libyan Consulate

"We will wipe away our tears, stiffen our spines,
and face the future undaunted."
~ Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

And Rachel Maddow reminded us on her show last night that one reason this ceremony was so moving and remarkable was that during the Bush Administration, displaying the flag-draped coffins of the dead was prohibited. The Bushies didn't want anyone to think about how many soldiers were dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. Obama rescinded that order within 6 months of beginning his first term.

Maddow also covered the latest violence going on in the Middle East.

"This has clearly moved beyond demonstrations against an offensive internet video. It's become an opportunity for radicals in many countries to express their anger with the United States. And they've learned from watching each other that U.S. diplomatic facilities overseas aren't as protected as they thought."
